Saint Mary’s Press Hosts a Public Discussion on Why Youth are Leaving Religion

Will Release a Two-Year National Research Project with Georgetown on Disaffiliation in the Catholic Church

 

BALTIMORE (January 5, 2018) –Saint Mary’s Press Catholic Research Group, will host a non-denominational discussion on why young people are leaving religion and release the results of a two-year qualitative research project conducted in partnership with The Center for Applied Research in the Apostolate at Georgetown University and on the topic on Tuesday, January 16th at the Maritime Conference Center in Baltimore, MD.

The findings will be discussed during a candid, interfaith conversation moderated by Public Radio’s award-winning journalist, Kerri Miller. Miller will be joined by four panelists, Jenan Mohajir, Beatriz Mendivil, Josh Packard, and Rev. Joseph L. Muth, Jr., whose backgrounds and contributions span sociological perspectives, interfaith activism, and personal narratives rooted in both belief and unbelief.

In addition, the report titled Going, Going, Gone! The Dynamics of Disaffiliation in Young Catholic, will be available to media attending the event.
