This is the diolkos, the ancient roadway that connected across the narrow isthmus separating the Aegean Sea from the Adriatic Sea. Carts would pull the sailing ships and the ships’ cargo the four miles from one port to the other. You can see the ruts in the roadway that guided the wheels of the cart. Saint Paul would have walked part of this roadway from the port to Corinth.
