Bring the Catholic faith alive in this new middle school curriculum that teaches the wisdom of tradition in the context of real life.
The Catholic Connections curriculum features:
This dynamite middle school curriculum introduces Catholic young adolescents to Jesus Christ in a new way and inspires them to follow him. Fostering the faith of young adolescents involves helping them to make connections between the Catholic faith and everyday life. It also means helping young people to strengthen their connection to the faith community. Catholic Connections aims to strengthen the participants' Catholic identity and inspire them to participate more fully in the Church's mission. In a world of laws of nations and laws of the heart, help them recognize that it is the power of the Holy Spirit that has united God's people in love and that continues to be a transforming presence.
Using an active, hands-on approach to Catholic religious education, Catholic Connections is a comprehensive religious curriculum for sixth-, seventh-, and eighth-graders.

Whether middle schoolers encounter this book as part of the Catholic Connections program in faith formation or pick it up out of curiosity, The Catholic Connections Handbook for Middle Schoolers offers great guidance and aims to help young teens learn about all the central aspects of the Catholic faith, including God, revelation, faith, Jesus the Christ, the Holy Spirit, the Church, liturgy and Sacraments, Christian morality and justice, and prayer.
This teacher guide will help to expand your students' knowledge of Jesus Christ and teach them that Christ stands at the center of salvation history, at the center of parish life, and in the hearts of believers.
This teacher guide will help to expand your students' knowledge of the Holy Spirit and teach them that the Holy Spirit energizes and brings life to the Church and to all baptized believers.
This teacher guide will help to expand your students' knowledge and explore how God reveals himself to us, focusing on two main modes of God's revelation: the Scriptures and Tradition.
This guide will cover the many different forms of liturgy—with the Eucharist foremost among them. Other forms of liturgy include the Sacraments and special prayers, such as morning and evening blessings, that are prayed communally. The chapters in this unit of the handbook examine each of these forms of liturgy, beginning with an introduction of the meaning of liturgy and moving into a close look at each of the Sacraments.
Christian morality is built on God’s steadfast call to us to live in right relationship with him and with others. God has given us the Ten Commandments as a guide for living in right relationship. This course will help the students to learn about the moral principles embodied in the Ten Commandments.
In these chapters, the students will explore prayer and its place in their own lives and the life of the Church.
This manual will help you organize and oversee the religion education classes developed around The Catholic Connections Handbook for Middle Schoolers. The manual provides a variety of scheduling options for course selection and for different numbers of classes per week to help in planning the year’s curriculum.
The Student Activity Booklet is designed to expand the students’ learning of the chapter content and to provide them with opportunities for reflection, for critical thinking about how what they have learned applies to their own lives, and for creative ways to explore the material.
Chapter tests for all of Catholic Connection’s teacher guides are available in this booklet. Tests contain a combination of objective questions in a variety of formats, such as sentence completion and multiple choice, as well as essay questions. Each test is weighted at 100 points. Each objective question has a value of 10 points and the essay question a value of 20 points. Answers for the tests and the pages of the handbook on which test questions are covered are provided in the answer key, found at the end of the booklet.
