Overview

De La Salle is recognized as the patron of teachers because he taught, worked out the best ways to instruct poor children, and trusted that God would guide and bless him each step of the way. The meditations in this book are designed to help readers pray with de La Salle on such themes as faith, zeal, trusting in Providence, the person of the teacher, perseverance, and discerning God's will. Stories about Saint John Baptist de La Salle, his writings, and passages from the Scriptures form the basis of each meditation.

By Dr. Frank Way, director of education, Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis

De La Salle wrote over 300 years ago but his meditations still show us the way in these challenging times. I recommend this book to all teachers, especially those in Catholic schools.

By Liz Lichter, teacher

As a Christian, this book renewed my zeal to help bring our world to life again. As a Christian teacher, it reset my priorities and vision, inspiring me to touch the "heart and mind of each individual child uniquely, kindly, and carefully."

By Maria Harris, author

Taking time to pray with de La Salle, especially if we are educators, can only enhance our work with others. With the help of the many imaginative processes in this book, we can not only become better teachers, but holier ones as well.

By Joseph Schmidt, FSC, author of Praying Our Experiences

Anyone needing to integrate a busy and a prayerful life would do well to accept the invitation of this helpful book to meet and pray with John Baptist de La Salle, priest, educator, administrator, spiritual writer, and founder.
