In a way like no other pope in history, John Paul II touched the hearts of the youth of our world in profound and lasting ways. He served as a model of Christian goodness, charity, compassion, justice, and faithfulness to the Good News of Jesus Christ. He served the Church as Vicar of Christ with unprecedented humility and genuine affection for all people of goodwill. He held a very special place in his heart for the youth of the world. He had enormous trust and expectation that they would accept their responsibility to transform the world into a society shaped by the love of Christ. He believed in them.
