Overview

Learning the Bible has never been so much fun!

Object
Travel through various biblical eras (primeval history to early Christianity) answering questions about people of the Bible that address the who, where, when, what, how, and why of their places in salvation history. Players determine length of time and game play by choosing from any of the designated starting and stopping points on the board--the Garden of Eden, Egypt, the Promised Land, the Temple--with New Jerusalem as the final destination. The team or individual that collects the most character cards wins the game. Board game includes a free Bible!

This game is designed to be played two different ways:

Learn-as-you-play
If you're new to the Bible, the learn-as-you-play mode will help you get acquainted with Breakthrough! The Bible for Young Catholics and all the wonderful stories, characters, and lessons it holds. When faced with questions, you'll be free to look up the answers in the Bible.

Test-your-knowledge
If you're more experienced, you'll be able to test what you know about the Bible by answering the questions from memory with the test-your-knowledge mode of play.

Customer Reviews

By Debra M. Kujak, 6th Grade CCD Teacher, St. Mary Immaculate Conception Church, Fountain City, Wisconsin

My students enjoyed playing the game very much. Many of them wanted to know when we could play the game again or where they could purchase the game. It was a pleasure to watch 6th grade students showing excitement about their religion.

By Jessica Brey, Director of Religious Education, Nativity of Mary, Janesville, Wisconsin

Breakthrough! The Bible Board Game was fun playing in groups, and it was challenging. I plan to use it in conjunction with our Scripture class for middle school people. I think it would be a fun family game too.
Editorial Reviews

September/October 2009

"My family and I had a blast playing Breakthrough!, a new Bible board game from Saint Mary?s Press. If you?re a Protestant, you may think the Catholic church isn?t accessible and doesn?t value personal Bible study, but Breakthrough! will prove you wrong! This colorful and engaging board game for two or more players, ages 10 and older, paints a new picture for those of us out of touch with the Catholic church. I see this game meeting a lot of needs?from bringing young Catholics into the story of faith to overcoming some of the prejudices and misunderstandings that divide Catholics and Protestants."
