From Lynette A. White
teacher, Saint Bernard's Central Catholic High School

Andrew Rota has developed an intimate relationship with God that ultimately has fashioned him into a model student and a model disciple of Christ. He transforms his love of liturgy and prayer into an active faith. In his own humble way, Andrew has become an institution all his own, serving as an example of belief in the Good News through both words and actions.

Andy is a source of inspiration for members of the Saint Bernard's community, which left me wondering, what is the source for him? I found out one morning before school began. I discovered him in the Chapel alone, reading from the Liturgy of Hours. He can take on a lot; he can carry his cross laden with so many responsibilities, because his works come from his prayers, showing us all what faith is, and how faith works. And maybe one day the world will see what I see: this humble light of Christ, burning in the stillness of prayer so that it may shine for the rest of us.

From Kathleen A. Jordan
campus minister, Saint Bernard's Central Catholic High School

Andrew's vision for the future is based in his Catholic faith. He is very proactive and involved in all aspects of Campus Ministry including various community service projects for people who are poor, homeless, and hungry. He initiated a rosary prayer group in the mornings and has been leading them since his junior year, and he attends daily Mass when it is offered before school in the early mornings. I have worked with teenagers for a long time, and this young man has truly been a positive influence on my own personal faith development. He represents a powerful movement among the youth of our nation that gives me peace because I know that with young people like Andy Rota in the world, we are in good hands.

From Nicole Phinney
fellow student, campus ministry member

I have watched Andy Rota grow from being a young freshman to a much more mature senior. Andy helps organize Masses, contacts priests and bishops when we are short a priest, and participates during the Mass as an altar boy. I best know Andy from my freshman study hall and junior religion class. Andy and I would discuss our religious beliefs and debate over politics. Unlike many other teenagers today, Andy would argue in a calm, respectful and logical manner. He would never insult a belief and he would always take into account the opposite prospective. Andy has a deep sense of who he is as a person. He is humble, selfless, and respectful to all people and the beliefs that they hold. He is secure in who he is and what he believes. If I had to define Andy, I'd say that he is the perfect example of what it truly means to be a Christian.
