Rights and Permissions Guidelines
We are pleased that you have found something of
particular interest in one of our publications. All material published by Saint
Mary's Press is protected by domestic and international copyright laws. You are
legally required to obtain our permission before reproducing or redistributing
any of our materials. Please review the following conditions and procedures for
requesting rights and permissions. Feel free to contact me if you need further
assistance.
If you are an individual interested in copying
materials for a limited group within your church or community, please include
the following information in your request:
- exact title and author of the book from which you wish to reproduce excerpts
- year of publication
- exact material that you wish to reprint (Please provide the page numbers on which the
material appears in the original publication.)
- precise number of copies you wish to make
- information about your organization, including name, address, phone and fax numbers, contact
person, and e-mail address
If you are a publisher interested in obtaining
subsidiary rights to publish a Saint Mary’s Press title, please include the
following information in your request:
- exact title and author of the Saint Mary’s Press book you wish to publish
- year of the book’s publication
- territories for which you need permission (U.S., Canada, Latin America, world, etc.)
- language(s) for which you wish to obtain rights
- information about your organization, including name, address, phone and fax numbers,
contact person, and e-mail address
If you are a publisher seeking
permission to reprint excerpts from our materials in one of your publications,
please include the following information in your request:
- exact title and author of the Saint Mary’s Press book from which you wish to reprint excerpts
- year of publication of Saint Mary’s Press book
- exact material you wish to reprint (Please provide the page numbers on which the
material appears in the original publication.)
- territories for which you need permission (U.S., Canada, Latin America, world, etc.)
- language(s) for which you wish to obtain rights
- title and imprint of your book
- proposed date of publication
- projected list price
- lifetime print run
- information about your organization, including name, address, phone and fax numbers,
contact person, and e-mail address
Please note that most photographs and art used by Saint Mary's Press on covers and interiors
of our books are not our property and are licensed from others. If you are interested in an image
found in one of our books please check the copyright page in the front of the book or the
acknowledgement pages in the back for the photo credit.
If you wish to use material that is quoted by Saint Mary's Press from another source outside
Saint Mary's Press, it is your responsibility to seek permission from that copyright holder. Check
the bottom of the page for copyright information.
Please include any other information you feel may help me in evaluating your request.
Please allow one to two weeks for your permission request to be processed.
Saint Mary's Press reserves the right to determine a fee charged for any material reprinted.
Incomplete requests will not be processed and will be returned to the requester for more information.
