Vitek
John M. Vitek currently serves as the chief executive officer and president of Saint Mary’s Press. He is the general editor of The Catholic Family Connections Bible (Saint Mary’s Press, 2010) and the author of three titles for Catholic Youth: Living the Questions Jesus Asks: A Guide for Catholic Teens (Saint Mary’s Press, 2002); A Companion Way: Mentoring Youth in Searching Faith (Saint Mary’s Press, 1993); and My Dear Young Friends: Pope John Paul II Speaks to Teens on Life, Love, and Courage (Saint Mary’s Press, 2001), printed in four languages and distributed worldwide.
John holds undergraduate degrees in religious studies and communication arts from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota, and a master’s degree in pastoral studies from the School of Divinity at St. Thomas University, in St. Paul, Minnesota.
He and his wife, Caer, have three children. Their fourth child, daughter Brianna, was in a fatal car accident at the age of 16. John and his wife live on their small-acre farm where they grow and harvest certified organic grass hay, restore native prairie, and have operated a champion llama breeding program.
