Andrew Nelson
Catholic School Recipient
Trinity High School, Manchester, NH
|
From Kelly Moore Dunn
parent, Trinity High School
Andrew Nelson is a prayerful man of action who leads by example. He leads teenagers
and adults in the pursuit of their gifts to share with the community. Recently, in our parish,
our Pastor spoke specifically about Andrew in his Sunday homily when describing a living
example of the Beatitudes. Every year through the leading of the Holy Spirit, the Grace of
God, and the untiring efforts of Andrew, the Trinity High School students have exceeded their
goals for serving people who are poor. When Andrew has an idea, the students line up to help.
When he had the vision to build the John Paul II Ministry Center at Trinity, the
administration, faculty, students, and parents pitched in. When he challenged the students
to collect 400 baskets to feed people in need, they collected more than that. When he challenged
them to stand together, four busload-strong to attend the March for Life in Washington, DC,
they filled five buses.
Andrew is a bright shining light on a small hill in Manchester, NH. With his enormous heart
and desire to bring Jesus to teenagers, he does so with gentleness, humility, a tremendous
sense of humor and boundless energy and enthusiasm.
From William Sheehan
teacher, Trinity High School
As the director of the Pope John Paul II Campus Ministry, Andrew leads by faith in action. With a dynamic personality and unwavering dedication and determination, Andrew encourages the students to live the Gospel message to serve others and that by giving, one receives. Andrew is a visionary who fosters the belief in the students that anything is possible if you have faith in Jesus. Andrew is an example to all students that one person can make a difference and that every person is worthy of praise and dignity.
From Linsey Barker
student,
Trinity High School
I had never received a Catholic education prior to my arrival at Trinity High School; in fact, I was not even Baptized. I didn't know how to pray, or what it meant to live out the Gospel message, or even the significance of Jesus Christ. I was, you could say, religion-less and faith-less; that is, until I met Mr. Andrew Nelson. There was something intriguing about Mr. Nelson from the very first moment I saw him. I can remember that moment as clear as day, I walked into his theology classroom and saw him standing on top of his desk with an illuminating smile wrapped across his face. From my very first religion class with Mr. Nelson to present day, Mr. Nelson has been the dominant factor in shaping my faith and in helping me to grow and become a better person.
