Inside Sales Representative
General responsibilities: Sales and distribution of Saint Mary’s Press products to Catholic Dioceses, schools and parishes.
Specfic Responsibilities
- Actively engage in phone/e-mail contact with Catholic high schools, parishes, and Diocesan Offices respective territory.
- Meet or exceed weekly/monthly sales call quotas
- Present product knowledge accurately, be engaging, speak articulately, and answer customer’s objections and questions. Create customer demand; assist in matching their needs to Saint Mary’s Press products and to close the sale
- Plan, arrange and coordinate the participation in appropriate exhibits/conferences/showcases in a manner that effectively supports marketing objectives. To attend the various shows that take place in respective territory, in addition to other large shows that may require attendance
- Capture and build partnerships of new and former customers by capturing names, addresses, etc at events and creating a plan to follow-up and build on these partnerships
- Collaborate in maintaining the SMP customer database so that up-to-date information on specific contacts for individual customers is noted
- Keep in steady, personal contact with diocesan offices and inform them of new products, customer experiences, and possible solutions to any concerns that they may have
- Provide customer service help primarily to teachers, youth ministers, and directors of religious education
- Collaboratively represent the concerns, opinions and knowledge of the sales team in meetings with the entire marketing services team and in deliberation with the sales manager
- Effectively demonstrate the Saint Mary's Press brand experience by warm, inviting, polished and enthusiastic presence with all customer contact, both internal and external, and on the telephone, in person and in written communication
- Demonstrate the willingness for continual training and improvement of sales skills
- Provide feedback and follow-up from conferences, to Marketing and Development, and follow-up with Development on specific product questions as they arise from customers
- Participate on assigned project teams which can benefit from sales consultants first-hand customer feedback and relationships
- Occasional travel required
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- 3-4 yrs sales and/or customer service experience
- B.S. /B.A degree in sales, marketing, or business preferred
- Knowledge of the Catholic market preferred but not required
- Knowledge Microsoft Office and experience with database management
- Ability to take initiative and multi-task
- Strong listening and selling skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge of Catholic market helpful
